Zhangjiajie's Top Sights
The Avatar pillars at Yuanjiajie, the Bailong glass elevator, Tianmen Mountain's cable car, and the world's highest glass bridge.
Yuanjiajie (Avatar Hallelujah Mountain)
The quartzite pillars that inspired Avatar's floating mountains. Take the Bailong elevator (326 m, the world's tallest outdoor lift) up, then walk the cliff-side paths. Go at dawn — the mist and the crowds both rise after 9am.
Tianzi Mountain
The highest viewpoint in the park; sea-of-clouds mornings are legendary. Free shuttle bus from Yuanjiajie.
Golden Whip Stream
A flat 7 km riverside walk beneath the pillars — the park's easiest trail and its best photo angle looking up.
Tianmen Mountain
In the city, not the park: the world's longest passenger cable car (7 km) climbs to a glass walkway clinging to the cliff. Book the timed slot the day before.
Glass bridge at Grand Canyon
430 m long, 300 m high. Book online with your passport; closed in bad weather.
Locals' Tip
Do Yuanjiajie at dawn for the mist — by 10am the tour buses arrive and the pillars lose their magic.
