Getting To & Around Zhangjiajie

Bullet train from Changsha, the airport-to-park shuttle, and why inside the park you walk, bus, and ride cable cars β€” not taxis.

Arriving

Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (DYG) is 8 km from downtown β€” a DiDi is Β₯30 and 15 minutes. Most travelers come by high-speed rail: Zhangjiajie West station connects to Changsha (2.5 hours) and nationwide HSR lines.

Getting to the park

Wulingyuan (the main park entrance) is 35 km from the city β€” a 45-minute bus or DiDi (Β₯80–120). The park is enormous; you'll spend two days inside, so base yourself in Wulingyuan town, not Zhangjiajie city.

Inside the park

No cars inside. Free shuttle buses link the five scenic areas; cable cars, the Bailong elevator and the Tianmen escalator are paid extras. Plan your route the night before β€” the park is too big to wing it.

Taxis & ride-hailing

DiDi works in town and to the park. From the airport, ignore touts and order in-app. Drivers rarely speak English.

Locals' Tip

Base in Wulingyuan town, not Zhangjiajie city β€” it's at the park gate and saves an hour each way.
