The old town β the Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Muslim Quarter and the lanes. Walkable, atmospheric, mid-range. The best base for a first visit.
South of the wall (near the pagoda)
Quieter, greener, near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the museums. A 15-minute metro ride to the Bell Tower.
Near the train station
Functional, not charming β only if you have an early departure to the Terracotta Army or another city.
