Maglev & Metro from Pudong
Ride the 431 km/h maglev from PVG, then hand off to the world's longest metro — all in English, all in under an hour.
The maglev
Pudong Airport (PVG) to Longyang Road in 8 minutes at 431 km/h. It's the fastest way into town and a thrill in itself.
- Fare: ¥50 single, ¥80 round-trip (show your same-day boarding pass for the discount)
- Top speed runs 09:00-10:45 and 19:00-20:45; other hours it's a still-fast 300 km/h
Into the city
At Longyang Road, transfer to Metro Line 2 — it runs the length of the city, through Lujiazui, the Bund area and on to Hongqiao.
Getting around
Shanghai's metro is the longest in the world, fully in English, and runs 6:00am-11:00pm. Buy a Shanghai Public Transport Card at any station; it also works on the maglev, buses and ferries.
Locals' Tip
The maglev only hits top speed 09:00-10:45 and 19:00-20:45; other hours it's a still-fast 300 km/h — still quicker than any taxi.
