Where to Stay in Sanya
Four bays, four moods: pick Sanya Bay for sunsets, Yalong for the beach, Haitang for resorts and the duty-free mall.
The four bays at a glance
Sanya's hotels cluster along four bays, each with a distinct character and price band.
Sanya Bay
Closest to the airport and downtown. Budget to mid-range, long flat beach, and the best sunset views over the sea. Good for a short stopover.
Dadonghai
The mid-city bay — lively, walkable, and full of Russian signage and seafood restaurants. Mid-range hotels and the most local feel of the four.
Yalong Bay
The classic resort strip: white sand, palms, and the five-star hotels. The cleanest water and the best beach, 40 minutes from the airport. Pricey.
Haitang Bay
The newest and quietest bay, home to the biggest resorts and the Sanya International Duty-Free Mall. The beach is narrow but the pools are enormous.

Book international chains (Marriott, Hilton, Banyan Tree) via their sites or Trip.com. Hotels require your passport at check-in; some ask for a small deposit in cash or on a card.

Locals' Tip
Stay in Yalong for the beach, Haitang for the resort pool, and Sanya Bay only if you want cheap and central.
