Where to Stay in Guangzhou
Zhujiang New Town for the skyline, Shamian Island for the old treaty port, and near the fair if you're trading.
Zhujiang New Town (Tianhe)
The modern CBD β Canton Tower views, the opera house, malls and international hotels. The most foreigner-friendly base.
Shamian Island
The old colonial treaty port β tree-lined avenues, 19th-century sandstone buildings and the river. Quiet, walkable, atmospheric.
Near the Canton Fair (Pazhou)
If you're trading, the Pazhou hotels walk to the fair complex. Book months ahead β they sell out every April and October.
Beijing Road
The old commercial street β mid-range, central, walkable to the river and the pedestrian shopping.
Booking tips
Book via Trip.com; carry your passport. Avoid the Canton Fair weeks unless you're attending β prices triple.
