Getting around Xi'an
A compact old city wrapped in a wall β metro lines hit every sight, and the wall itself is the best ring road.
The metro
Xi'an's metro is small but well-placed β Line 2 connects the train station, Bell Tower and Big Wild Goose Pagoda; Line 1 crosses east-west under the wall.

Taxis
Flagfall Β₯9 for 2 km. Xi'an taxis are scarce at rush hour β DiDi with the destination written in Chinese is more reliable than hailing.
Inside the wall
The old city inside the wall is compact and walkable. For longer hops, the metro covers it; for wandering, just walk β the grid is logical and the wall is always your landmark.
