Dalian's Top Sights
Xinghai Square, the Binhai coastal road, the old trams, and the seafood on Zhongshan Square.
Xinghai Square
Asia's largest city square, open to the bay. Free; best at sunset when the kite-flyers and the sea light turn golden.
Binhai Road
40 km of coastal cliffs, coves and beaches — Dalian's signature drive. Hire a DiDi for two hours or rent an e-bike. Stop at Bangchui Island and Fujiazhuang beach.
The 201 tram
A 1909 wooden tram still running through the old town — a moving piece of history. ¥1 a ride.
Zhongshan Square
The colonial-era circular plaza, ringed with 100-year-old bank buildings. Free; lively at night with locals dancing.
Discovery Land
A seaside theme park on the eastern peninsula — good for families; book online.
Locals' Tip
Hire a DiDi for two hours along Binhai Road — it's the single best Dalian experience and public transport skips it.
