Where to Stay in Chongqing
Jiefangbei for the center and Hongya Cave, Eling Park for the views, and a pool for the brutal summer.
Jiefangbei
The central business district — walk to Hongya Cave, the night markets and the metro hub. High-rise international hotels, the most foreigner-friendly base.
Near Hongya Cave
The cliffside old-town quarter — boutique stays with river and bridge views. Atmospheric at night, busy with tourists by day.
Eling Park area
On the hill above the river — quieter, with the best panoramic city views. A 15-minute metro ride to the center.
Booking tips
Book via Trip.com; carry your passport. Summer (June–August) is brutally hot — pick a hotel with a pool or strong AC. Avoid the national holidays when the city fills with domestic tourists.
